Roles and Audition Sides
Five actors play all of the roles in Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors. Choose an actor track below to review its assigned characters and download one packet containing the sides to study. That actor track’s dialogue is highlighted throughout the packet.
Dialect notes are preferences, not a requirement for a perfect accent at auditions. Focus on making the characters distinctly different.

Prim and proper and obsessive-compulsive real estate agent, frightened of his own shadow. Engaged to his childhood crush Lucy Westfeldt and enamored of her fearlessness. Once bitten he loosens up…a lot… and becomes a Tom Jones-style rock star in leather pants.

Lucy’s suitor; a Scottish dolt.

Lucy’s suitor; posh, British and petulant.

Lucy’s arrogant suitor from Memphis, a la Yosemite Sam.

Dr. Wallace WestfeldtRP British
Lucy and Mina’s father, a blowhard; self-important misogynist given to proclamations and posturing with his pipe. A doctor caring for the criminally insane, he has recently lost his wife to consumption.
RenfieldCockney
Has salivary issues. Insane patient of Dr. Westfeldt who lives to serve and loves to eat bugs. In a word, the dude is nuts.

The salty captain of a doomed ship caught in a raging storm.

Lucy WestfeldtRP British
Brilliant, plucky earth scientist daughter of Dr. Westfeldt, she is full of energy and the spirit of adventure and often underestimated because of her beauty. Engaged to Jonathan, but when Dracula moves to Whitby, she is curious about his strange ways and impressed by their similar interests.
Kitty RutherfordCockney
A dotty kleptomaniac patient of Dr. Westfeldt, she serves as a maid in his house. Think Mrs. Lovett but servile and easily distracted.
DriverEastern European
The male, Transylvanian driver of the carriage carrying Jonathan to Dracula’s castle who tries to warn him. Borat meets Boris and Natasha.

Mina WestfeldtRP British
The less attractive, less intelligent Westfeldt daughter, she lives in her sister Lucy’s shadow and is desperate for attention. She is immediately (pathetically) receptive to Dracula’s charms.
Dr. Jean Van HelsingMel Brooks German
Brilliant and sturdy German vampire-hunting doctor from the University of Schmutz. Deadly serious in the way Germans can be, she is accustomed to people not believing she is a real doctor. Schtrong, schmart, unt bold, she is a woman of action.

DraculaEastern European
Hugely sexy, magnetically handsome, rock star presence with a killer body, he is a narcissist whose greatest love is himself – and his leather pants. Bored with women falling all over him, he becomes obsessed with Lucy when he hears of her strength and adventurousness. The less she needs him, the more interested he is. He travels to Whitby to find her and make her his bride for eternity
Q: When and where are auditions?
A: August 3 & 4 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Longview Community Center.
Q: Do I need to memorize the audition sides?
A: Nope! Copies of the sides will be available at auditions. You’re welcome to familiarize yourself with them ahead of time, but memorization is not expected.
Q: Do I need a British accent for auditions?
A: No. If you’re comfortable with accents, feel free to use one. If not, we’ll simply be looking for strong, distinct character choices.
Q: Do I need to attend both days?
A: You’re welcome to, but on the second night we’ll prioritize people auditioning for the first time before hearing returning auditioners again.
Q: What should I bring?
A: A headshot, if you have one. Other than that, just bring yourself!
Q: What’s the minimum age to audition?
A: Auditioners must be at least 17 years old.
Q: Is there a content advisory for this production?
A: Yes. This production contains adult humor, strong language, comedic violence, kissing, and moments of staged intimacy. An intimacy coordinator will be used for all intimate moments to ensure the safety of all involved. Theatre Longview is committed to the safety of all participants.
Q: When do rehearsals begin, and what is the schedule?
A: This schedule is tentative and may be adjusted once casting is complete.
• First read-through/start date: Tuesday, August 11th, at the Longview Community Center.
• Regular rehearsals: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Q: Will my audition be recorded?
A: Yes. Auditions will be recorded so the production team can review performances during casting.
Q: Will there be an audience?
A: No. Auditions are closed, meaning only those involved in the audition process will be in the room.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Wear something comfortable that you can move in.
Q: Can I submit a digital audition if I cannot attend in person?
A: Yes, please submit your digital audition by 9:00 PM on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, to theatre@theatrelongview.com
Q: What if I’m in a show that closes/wraps by the end of August 2026?
A: Feel free to audition! We will take scheduling conflicts into consideration when casting, though.
